Beatles fans will have the opportunity to purchase a piece of history when George Harrison’s former childhood home goes to auction at the renowned Cavern Club in Liverpool at 7:00pm on 20 October 2014.

The humble three-bedroom mid terrace home of 25 Upton Green in Liverpool (pictured below), was where George Harrison lived with his parents until the early 1960s.

George was aged six when in 1949 his parents Harold and Louise moved into this modest three-bedroom council house. The property has undergone a complete renovation with a hallway, lounge, kitchen/dining room and a family sized rear garden. The first floor includes three spacious bedrooms, bathroom and WC. The house has a guide price of £100,000 plus.

George Harrison and Paul McCartney met whilst waiting for a school bus. McCartney convinced Harrison, to join a band he had started with another friend - John Lennon. It is at this address where George Harrison held some of the bands first rehearsals.

Since then the property has been lived in by a number of owners, the latest of which died recently and the property passed down to relatives. Following the huge success of the sale of John Lennon’s childhood home at 9 Newcastle Road, by Countrywide Property Auctions in October 2013, the relatives have decided to auction the property.

Stephen Giddins, Regional Sales Director of Merseyside based selling agent Entwistle Green, said:

We are delighted to be acting on behalf of the current owner of 25 Upton Green, a property which has such a unique history. The Beatles, arguably one the biggest bands of all time, still attract thousands of visitors to Liverpool each year, so to get the opportunity to offer for sale George Harrison’s childhood home is very exciting.

“Taking into consideration the location, the property itself and the background we expect a lot of interest locally and internationally and would urge all interested parties to register their details as soon as possible to ensure they don’t miss out on this rare opportunity.”

Viewing is highly recommended.  For further information about the property or to register your interest, please telephone the auctioneer Countrywide Property Auctions on 0870 240 1140 or visit Alternatively telephone the selling agent Entwistle Green on 0151 734 2220, email
