Countrywide Residential Lettings has announced its support and alignment to the SAFEagent mark – which allows consumers to easily recognise where their money is protected under a client money protection scheme.

SAFE – which stands for ‘Safe Agent Fully Endorsed’ – is recognised by Government and key industry organisations such as DPS, TDS, My Deposits, Ombudsman Services; Property, The Property Ombudsman Scheme, the Property Redress Scheme and CAB.  It is fast becoming recognised as the mark to look for, in order to take the risk out of the rental sector.

Countrywide has also joined the SAFEagent Steering Group that oversees the nationwide SAFEagent campaign.

Commenting Steve Richmond, Operations Managing Director, Countrywide Residential Lettings, says:

“We have put our weight behind SAFEagent as well as becoming actively involved with the mark as a member of the Steering Group, so we can positively influence the industry and the experience of our landlords and tenants.

“There has been considerable media coverage on the disruptive impact that unscrupulous letting agents’ business practices can have on innocent customers. For anyone who needs to rent or let the message is simple, when it comes to lettings choose an agent who is part of a Client Money Protection Scheme as your money may be at risk if you don’t."

Countrywide Residential Lettings is a long standing advocate of high professional standards in the lettings industry being both members of The Property Ombudsman and RICS.

Commenting, Chair of SAFEagent Steering Committee, John Midgely, says:

"Consumers want and deserve protection, and SAFEagent does just that.  We're delighted that Countrywide Residential Lettings as the largest UK lettings agency has led by example as a key partner to take forward the campaign.  This will help us ensure that in future the SAFEagent mark will be mark of choice when dealing with a lettings and management agent".
