Award-winning Countrywide Residential Lettings, part of the UK's largest lettings and estate agency group, has added an additional six businesses to their growing portfolio, including two major strategic acquisitions in London and the North.

The latest additions mean that Countrywide Residential Lettings have acquired nine lettings businesses and opened an impressive 60 new lettings branches since the beginning of the year.

The two key acquisitions, the largest lettings acquisitions made by the group in recent years, include the successful city centre businesses LS1 and M1 in Leeds and Manchester, in addition to Alan Harvey Property Services in East London.

Located in the heart of Leeds, LS1 was launched over twelve years ago and has become a market-leading business during this time, with Manchester-based M1 attracting similar success following its launch in 2005. With a combined portfolio of over 1,000 city centre apartments, the acquisition provides CRL with a significant presence in the Leeds region providing a strong platform for future growth in this area and further strengthens Countrywide's position as a market-leading agent in Manchester.

Countrywide Residential Lettings' presence has also been strengthened across the key development areas surrounding the Olympic park, following the purchase of Alan Harvey Property Services.  A well-established and local market-leading lettings business, the centrally located Bow and Leytonstone branches have a combined portfolio exceeding 350 properties.

Further acquisitions include the portfolio of Bullock & Lees, a long-established and highly regarded Christchurch lettings business which manages a number of mid to high-end flats and houses in the popular south-west coastal village; and the portfolios of long-established Woking agency Keelans and Warrington-based lettings business, iSite. These portfolios have been combined with Countrywide's existing local estate agency brands to strengthen the group's local offering.

Lanes Lettings and Management was also recently acquired by the group, managing around 400 rental properties across the commuter town of Enfield, ideally located to add to Countrywide's existing footprint in the nearby Chingford and Southgate areas.

Nick Dunning, Commercial Director, Countrywide, comments:

"It is an exciting period for Countrywide Residential Lettings and the nine acquisitions and 60 new branches that we have launched in the first half of the year are in line with our strategy of rapid expansion through organic growth and acquisitions.

"Our growth of our lettings operation is a major focus for the group and we look forward to continued accelerated expansion of lettings services and footprint for the foreseeable future."

John Hards, Co-Managing Director, Countrywide Residential Lettings, comments:

"I am delighted to welcome the latest additions to Countrywide Residential Lettings and look forward to working with the teams that have also joined us. After three successful acquisitions in the first quarter of the year, we have continued to expand rapidly and when paired with a number of award wins* in recent weeks - which highlight the efforts and success of our team - 2012 has been a fantastic year so far.

"We have a number of acquisitions planned for the rest of the year and we will be looking for more opportunities to increase our footprint. We welcome opportunities to add more businesses to the team and urge business owners to contact us."
