The UK’s largest property services group, Countrywide, has announced a series of internal promotions, adding even more industry experience and depth to its existing leadership team.

Professional Services Director, Paul Chapman, has been promoted to Managing Director of Countrywide’s Business to Business division; with responsibility for the group’s successful surveying, conveyancing, asset management, and land and new homes businesses.

Paul joined the Countrywide Group in December 2011 and has over twenty years’ experience in the property sector. His new role also sees him join the Executive Team, which has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the Group. The promotion means Paul Creffield will now focus on the commercial side of Countrywide’s business.

Also promoted to the Executive Team is Grant Dempster, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer. Grant has been with the business since April 2015 and also assumes responsibility for the group’s legal department. Finally, Paul Bridge joins the Executive Team, taking on the portfolio for IT, procurement and programme management. The changes come into effect on 1 July 2017.

Confirming the appointments, Countrywide CEO, Alison Platt said: “I’m delighted to welcome Paul, Grant and Paul to the Executive Team. Each of them has had a strong hand in improving our business performance and capability in their respective areas, so it’s only right that we make the most of their expertise at group strategic level.

“Countrywide has a strong and diverse portfolio and it’s important that our most senior leadership team reflects this broad remit. These appointments emphasise our strong commitment to delivering growth and improved operational performance across the group as we continue to build a stronger business for the future.”

Separately, Countrywide announced earlier this week that it has appointed Himanshu Raja as Chief Financial Officer. Himanshu joins the business later this month, taking over from Jim C‎larke, who retires in December.

Operating across the UK residential market with 900 branches around England, Scotland, and Wales, Countrywide is involved in every aspect of the property cycle and at all price points within the market. Delivering new homes for sale and with a residential property fund providing large scale build to rent schemes, Countrywide is also the UK’s largest residential sales and lettings agents group, as well as the UK’s single largest mortgage broker.

The new appointments join the existing Countrywide Executive Team consisting of Alison Platt, Jim Clarke (CFO), Kate Brown (Group HR Director), Sam Tyrer (MD, Sales and Lettings), Paul Creffield, and Peter Curran (MD, Financial Services).

Notes to editors

Countrywide is the UK’s largest estate agency group and sold more homes than any other estate agent in the UK last year. Also the nation’s largest lettings agent, Countrywide helped more than 50,000 landlords to let their properties last year and has over 90,000 homes under its management; representing the largest portfolio in the private rented sector. Countrywide’s financial services division completed £15.7bn mortgages in 2017, making it the UK’s single largest mortgage broker.
