Countrywide Conveyancing Services is part of a national consortium of firms working to develop a new standard of apprenticeship in conveyancing.

The group is being facilitated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), a regulator of legal services, as part of a scheme by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to develop world-class apprenticeships. The conveyancing group is aiming to develop the new apprenticeship very quickly so that the first learners can start in the autumn of this year.

The government has pledged an additional £40million overall to support participation in Higher Apprenticeships such as this one.

Jake Milnes, Operational Relationship Manager at Countrywide Conveyancing Services was delighted to be invited to attend a reception for National Apprenticeship Week (3-7 March 2014) at Number Ten Downing Street, where he met Chancellor George Osborne.

Commenting Alyn North, Group Professional Services Director, Countrywide plc, said: ‘We are proud to be investing in the future of the conveyancing profession by supporting the development of a new apprenticeship. We rely on bringing local talent into our firm and apprenticeships are a brilliant start to an interesting and rewarding career in law.

“We are making a significant investment in the training and development of our conveyancers and at the end of 2013 we launched our Trainee Property Lawyer programme. The programme will enable us to maintain capacity and ensure the quality of our conveyancers, and a further intake of trainee lawyers will take place over the coming months, recruiting into our Manchester, Cardiff and Bridgend offices.”

Chief Executive of the CLC, Sheila Kumar said: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting employers of conveyancers as they work to develop a new standard for apprenticeships in conveyancing . We’re committed to supporting the development of a diverse profession that delivers the services consumers want to the highest professional standards. So we welcome the government’s commitment to supporting apprenticeships financially as well as sponsoring the development of world-class apprenticeships."
